The Trojan men’s tennis team lost its fifth straight contest on Monday, falling to North Florida 1-4 in Troy’s first home match of the season.

With the loss, the Trojans fell to 2-6 on the season and now face a three-match road stretch before returning home on March 4. The Men of Troy struggled in both phases of the match, losing two of three doubles matches, followed by dropping three of six singles matchups.

Troy started the day by stealing a win in doubles play thanks to Pablo Moreno and Mustapha Belcora’s 6-2 win over North Florida’s Zach Goldberg and Sahil Deshmukh.

The other two doubles matches resulted in Trojan defeats as the duo of Hassan Ndayishimiye and Andy Lau ended in a 3-6 loss before Andre Baldo and Filip Mansson fell 0-6.

Ndayishimiye got the lone singles win for Troy on its home courts, defeating No. 62 Jefta Kecic 6-2, 6-3. Troy’s Amer Bedwan was one set away from winning his singles contest, but was unable to finish out the competition.

Moreno’s singles match ended in the same fashion that Bedwan’s did as his match went unfinished just prior to him losing his second of two sets.

The other three singles matches all ended in two-set losses for those wearing cardinal and black, with the most notable matchup coming between Lau and the Osprey’s No. 74 Jack Findel-Hawkins. Lau was no match for the competition, losing his two sets by a score of 6-1, 6-0.

The Trojans return to action on Friday when they travel to take on Old Dominion at 2 p.m. After that, they will have a week’s rest before playing Chattanooga on the road.
