Copy Editor

Hey there, fellow Trojans.

It’s been a long four years, full of many trials and triumphs. It’s hard to believe it’s almost over.

It’s funny, but I don’t know what to say, so I guess I’ll start at the beginning.

I came to Troy as a young psychology major. I had spent several years believing that was what I really wanted to do. With all my planning and working ahead, I was even going to graduate a whole year early.

It wasn’t until the summer of 2015, I realized that wasn’t really what I wanted to do. I was a little lost on what to do next. I knew what I wanted to do, but I had no idea where to start.

Later that year, I walked into the Trop office without a clue on what to do. All I knew was I wanted to edit.

My career as a copy editor for the Trop led me to so many more opportunities than I could have asked for. I learned so much about Troy that I would never have known had it not been for the Trop, and while it may seem contradictory, it gave me so many more reasons to love Troy University.

I could never trade the experiences and friends I made along the way. It’s thanks to them  I’ve become the person I am today, and I can finally say I’m proud to be a Troy Trojan.

Now as I get ready to graduate and pass on the torch to the next generation of copy editors, I can finally say thank you, Troy and everyone else I’ve met along the way.

It truly has been an honor.
