To show support for higher education to the governor and the members of the Alabama Legislature, Troy University students are participating in the statewide commission Higher Education Day Rally.
The Higher Education Partnership, with its mission to “advocate the importance of higher education in bettering the lives of people in Alabama,” has scheduled its annual Higher Education Day Rally at the Statehouse in Montgomery for Thursday, Feb. 27, beginning at 10:30 a.m.
The purpose of the rally is to advocate state funding for education, according to Cody Farrill, Troy SGA president.
“The rally will leave an impact,” said Farrill, a senior political science major from Panama City, Fla. “It is a chance for students to make a change in their university. It is a chance to be loud, be proud and let [the state officials] know that we are voters and our votes count.”
Farrill will give a speech at the rally to represent all students in the state of Alabama.
The event occurs around the time of the Grishma Rimal
