The oddly unacademic, hypocritical program at TROY

by Caleb Thomas A speaker rolled into Troy on Tuesday night to give a presentation to students. Flyers sent to students via email described him simply as an “American attorney, author and businessman,” as well as the former CEO of CKE Restaurants, which owns Hardee’s and Carl’s Jr.. However, Andy Puzder is much more than that. As CEO of CKE, he ran objectifying ads in which scantily-clad women fed each other and consumed burgers in subjective manners that included crawling and being sprawled out on the hoods of cars. When asked about the ads, Puzder defended…

Reflecting on the past four years

by Sheldon Bloom  When I reflect on my time at Troy University, I am reminded of the profound effect that being here has had on me. When I accepted my scholarship for the fall of 2019, I didn’t realize that I would be embarking on what might be the single greatest journey of change and self-growth that I have ever experienced.  I never imagined that my short time here would so profoundly alter me, and although it was just four short years ago, I can’t help but feel entirely different…

Life feels so polarized, and the signs are everywhere. We have failed to keep a balance between our extremes, and now we live in a…

It’s okay to be single

by Katie Smith College is an educational institution, but apparently, it’s also the place where you’re supposed to find yourself and your life-long love. My family will constantly ask if I’ve met someone, badgering me as if I’m here for any other reason than my education. I have to laugh and shrug my shoulders, making some kind of joke about why I’m still single.  Escaping to films doesn’t help either because college coming of age movies and TV shows also put a lot of pressure on this stage of life.…
