Environmental Club celebrates Earth Week, sparks interest in carbon footprint reduction
Staff Report The university and the Environmental Club celebrated Earth Week by educating students, faculty and staff on the idea of conservation of the Earth, while introducing them to some of the critters that inhabit it. The Environmental Club hosts a tent on the quad each year for Earth Week, and, this year, it continued to show its appreciation for Earth by giving away, to students, animal print bracelets, Earth week buttons and stickers, reusable shopping bags, tie-dye shirt making games and free potted plants. Megan Phillips Staff Writer Saturday, April 19, was not a good day for the Troy softball team, now 2-10 in the Sun Belt Conference, as they dropped both games in a doubleheader against the Ragin’ Cajuns of Louisiana-Lafayette at home. Due to rain, game one and two of the series was canceled on Friday, April 18, and the Trojans only played the Ragin’ Cajuns in one doubleheader on Saturday instead. Wally Pendergrass Staff Writer Four Trojans earned Sun Belt All-Conference honors in New Orleans last week and both teams’ seasons came to an end at the conference tournament. On the women’s side, sophomore Trang Huynh received Sun Belt All-Conference Singles First Team honors. Huynh had a great season, finishing with a 17-4 record and had a 10-match win streak going into the conference tournament. Junior music education major, Rad Bolt, had been practicing since the beginning of April.
