Wesley Kirchharr Staff Writer   The Troy football team laid claim to the top spot in the Sun Belt Conference with a last-second thriller against Appalachian State, winning 28-24 Saturday. The Trojans (8-1, 5-0 Sun Belt) strengthened their resume for a national ranking after topping the Mountaineers (7-3, 5-1 Sun Belt) at home in Veterans Memorial Stadium. Troy football announces new end zone project, scoreboard

Michael Shipma Sports Editor   Veterans Memorial Stadium is getting “bowled in.” After nearly six years of rumors and planning, the Troy University Athletics Department announced Thursday morning its official plans to build a new facility and scoreboard just behind the north end zone of the football stadium. The structure will be over 67,000 square feet in size, and will provide new features for athletes, coaches and fans.
