Men’s basketball gets trounced on the road

Gabe Sadetsky Staff Writer Troy men’s basketball fell to Louisiana-Lafayette on the road in a key Sun Belt matchup, 78-63, this past Thursday, Feb. 20, and lost to rival South Alabama as well on Saturday, Feb. 22. The Ragin’ Cajuns were led by senior guard Bryant Mbamalu with his 21-point performance and four steals. UL-Lafayette was stronger in the paint, scoring 46 points while Troy only scraped up 28 points. Jill Odom Sports Editor   Troy’s men strived in vain to defeat the Red Wolves, losing by a mere 10 points, 83-73, on Saturday, Feb. 1. Arkansas State dominated in the free throw department and beyond the rim, but Troy fought the whole game. Senior guard and preseason All-Sun Belt player Hunter Williams led the Trojans with 23 points while senior forward Tevin Calhoun finished with a double-double (16 points and 11 rebounds) in the win.
