Trojan softball team drops Louisiana series, loses fourth straight

Scott Watkins Staff Writer The Troy Trojan softball team traveled to Lafayette, Louisiana, last weekend to face 16th-ranked Louisiana and was swept three games to none. The Trojans played Louisiana close in the first game of the series on Saturday, but lost 3-1. The Rajin’ Cajuns run-ruled Troy in five innings 11-0 in both remaining games. Troy softball falls at UT-Arlington

Scott Watkins Staff Writer The Troy Trojan softball team hosted Texas-Arlington on Saturday and got its first win since March 19, but dropped the series two games to one. After dropping the first game of Saturday’s doubleheader 4-3, Troy bounced back with a five-inning 9-0 win in the nightcap. The Mavericks then won the rubber match on Sunday 5-2. Scott Watkins Staff Writer The Troy softball team traveled to the East Coast last weekend to take on the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers, losing the road series before dropping a tough game on the road against South Alabama. In their first meeting since 2014, Coastal Carolina swept Troy three games to zero. All three games were decided by one run each, beginning with a 4-3 loss on Saturday. Troy played two games on opening day, beating Bethune-Cookman before losing to North Florida. The Trojans again split both of their games on Saturday, including a win over NC State.
