Michael Shipma Sports Editor The Troy softball team used solid pitching and a stifling defense to sweep its own Trojan Warrior Tournament, defeating Dayton twice, as well as Missouri State, Austin Peay and Mercer. Ty Ammons Staff Writer The Troy University baseball and softball teams have hired additional assistant coaches this year, Blake Beck and Jaycee Affeldt, respectively. The baseball team hired Beck, a native of Hamilton, who served two years as Troy’s video coordinator and two years as Mississippi State’s video coordinator, a position he left last year. Beck moves into the position of volunteer assistant coach following Logan Pierce’s departure to the University of Alabama-Huntsville. Troy softball hires new pitching coach

Michael Kastner Contributor The Troy Trojans have added another asset to their softball program with the hiring of Alex Hupp as the new pitching coach. Hupp is only 27 years old but already has an extensive resume of softball experience. Hupp is most recently coming from a position at East Tennessee State, where she spent a year as the top assistant for the Buccaneers.
