Troy volleyball battles, falls to Tennessee

Michael Shipma Sports Editor The Troy volleyball team battled hard at home but fell 0-3 to Tennessee in Trojan Arena on Wednesday, Oct. 5. Despite keeping things close the entire way, the Trojans (6-14, 0-4 Sun Belt) couldn’t seem to finish out sets with wins, as they lost all three sets by a total of 12 points. Volleyball loses seventh straight

Michael Shipma Sports Editor Troy volleyball extended its current losing streak to seven games, losing its first two conference matches at home by a score of 0-3 each. The first of those matches, a contest against visiting Texas State, saw the Trojans (6-11, 0-2 Sun Belt) struggle to slow the visitors’ offensive attack. Trojan volleyball loses five straight

Michael Shipma Sports Editor The Troy volleyball team struggled on the road, losing four matches in two days in the Maroon Classic hosted by Mississippi State, Sept. 16-17. During that stretch, however, the Trojans lost 10 of the 14 sets they played in by five points or fewer. Michael Shipma Sports Editor The Troy volleyball team began the Trojan Invitational well but struggled down the stretch, dropping the final two games in the three-game tournament. The Trojans (3-4, 0-0 Sun Belt) took care of business against Southern University on Friday, Sept. 2, winning 3-0, but dropped the following games against Valparaiso and New Mexico State by scores of 1-3 and 0-3, respectively. Volleyball rolls SE Louisiana at home

Michael Shipma Sports Editor Between the East Tennessee State University Tournament and its home opener, the Troy volleyball team went 2-2. After defeating USC Upstate 3-2, the Trojans (2-2, 0-0 Sun Belt) earned back-to-back losses against Austin Peay and East Tennessee State. Troy bounced back in its home opener, however, shutting out Southeastern Louisiana to earn a 3-0 victory.
