Troy women advance to play Mississippi State in NCAA tourney

Scott Watkins Staff Writer The Troy Trojan women’s basketball team is the Sun Belt Champion for the second consecutive year and will be making a return trip to the big dance after taking down Louisiana 78-64. Troy will now advance to play Mississippi State in round 1 of the NCAA tournament, and will play the Bulldogs in  Starkville on Friday. Scott Watkins Staff Writer For the second consecutive year, the Troy women’s basketball team took home the Sun Belt title and earned an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament in the process. On Monday, the tournament selection committee tabbed the Trojans with the 15 seed in the Oklahoma City region. Women’s basketball drops two key road games in SBC play

Scott Watkins Staff Writer The Troy women’s basketball team made a trip through Texas last week and returned home with a pair of losses. The Trojans dropped a pivotal matchup with Texas-Arlington before losing late at Texas State. Troy had not lost back-to-back conference games since February of last season. The team’s conference seeding hopes took a hit as well, falling to third in the latest conference standings. Scott Watkins Staff Writer The Troy women’s basketball team won each of its last two games to take sole possession of second place in the Sun Belt Conference. With the final stretch in sight, the Trojans (18-7, 11-3 Sun Belt) won back-to-back games at home against Appalachian State and conference newcomer Coastal Carolina. Scott Watkins Staff Writer The Troy women’s basketball team played host to rival South Alabama on Saturday and captured its eighth conference victory of the season. The 75-71 win pulled the Trojans (15-6, 8-2 Sun Belt) to a second-place tie with Texas-Arlington heading into the final six games of the regular season.
