Scott Watkins Staff Writer The Troy women’s basketball team (14-6, 7-2 Sun Belt) played host to the Sun Belt’s Georgia schools last week, winning the first against Georgia Southern on Thursday and falling short against Georgia State two days later. In Thursday’s game against Georgia Southern, Troy fought off multiple comeback attempts made by the Eagles to secure a 77-67 victory. The first game featured a matchup between two Trojan teams that were undefeated in Sun Belt play when Troy (13-5, 6-1 Sun Belt) faced off against the Little Rock Trojans. Trojans win sixth straight, undefeated in conference play

Michael Shipma Sports Editor The Troy women’s basketball team continued its blistering start in conference play with double-digit wins over Texas State and UT Arlington at home. The Trojans (12-4, 5-0 Sun Belt) have now won their last six games, with their last loss coming before Christmas Day. The Troy women were led by senior forward Caitlyn Ramirez, who averaged a double-double for the second straight week following Troy’s most recent wins. Women’s hoops wins four straight

Rachael Wilkerson Contributor The Troy women’s basketball team is on a four-game winning streak after defeating Thomas University, Villanova and Loyola over Thanksgiving break. The Trojans (4-1, 0-0 Sun Belt) defeated Thomas University 110-55 on Monday, Nov. 21, in the Dothan Civic Center. Then, they handled business in the San Juan Shootout at Daytona Beach, picking up a pair of significant wins. Women’s hoops earns spot in SBC title game

Michael Shipma Sports Editor For the second time in school history, the Troy women’s basketball team will play for a Sun Belt Conference Championship. After defeating top-seeded Arkansas State 96-89 in the conference championship semifinals, the Trojans will advance to their first Sun Belt Championship game since 1997.
