Women’s basketball team continues winning streak

Wes Fortson Staff Writer During Christmas break, the women’s basketball team record improved to 8-5. Wins against both the UT-Arlington Lady Mavericks and the Georgia State Panthers have given the Lady Trojans a winning streak of three games. On Monday, Jan. 5, Troy defeated the Mavericks 70-63. Junior guard Ashley Beverly-Kelley led the team with 17 points, but junior guard Rachel Reid followed closely with 15 points. Women’s basketball falls to both Tigers on the road

Wally Pendergrass Staff Writer The Troy women’s basketball team fell short in its two opening games against Auburn and Clemson over the weekend. The Trojans battled against the Auburn Tigers in Auburn on Friday, Nov. 14. The game was decided during the closing minutes of the first half. Women’s basketball shows promise at exhibition match

Wally Pendergrass Staff Writer The Troy women’s basketball team looked dominant in Trojan Arena during its exhibition on Thursday, Nov. 6, against Alabama-Huntsville, winning 92-56. Troy had a slow start and was actually behind UAH 9-8 at the first media timeout. The Trojans had a small lead, 14-12, at the second media timeout in the first half. Women’s basketball defeats UALR for the first time in program history

Gabe Sadetsky Staff Writer Troy women’s basketball downed the Trojans of Arkansas-Little Rock at home this past Wednesday, Feb. 26, 86-77. The win gave Troy its first victory over UALR in program history, due in part to an 80-plus-point performance against the Sun Belt’s best defensive team. Senior guard Joanna Harden led the team in scoring yet again, reaching 33 points while shooting 23-of-26 from the free-throw line. Women’s basketball falls to Ragin’ Cajuns, takes down Jaguars

Gabe Sadetsky Staff Writer  Troy’s women’s basketball team came up short Thursday, Feb. 19, in a pivotal conference game on the road against Louisiana-Lafayette, 62-57. The game was one of only six games all season in which the Trojans failed to reach at least 80 points and the first such game since Feb. 6.
