Women’s tennis loses in Sun Belt tourney semifinals

Michael Shipma Sports Editor The Troy women’s tennis team’s postseason run was cut short by a 1-4 loss to Louisiana-Monroe on Saturday in the Sun Belt Conference Championships. The No. 4-seed Trojans, fresh off a 4-2 victory over fifth-seeded Coastal Carolina the day before, fell to the top-seeded Warhawks in the tournament semifinals in New Orleans. Women’s tennis team takes down Georgia Southern and Tulane

  Michael Shipma Sports Editor The Troy women’s tennis team improved its conference record to 2-1 with a 4-1 win over Georgia Southern before taking down Tulane 4-3. The Trojans’ weekend was highlighted by their Sunday victory over No. 48 Tulane, where they rallied from a doubles loss with two doubles wins and a 3-3 split in the singles phase. Women’s tennis splits conference openers

Michael Shipma Sports Editor The Troy women’s tennis team split its first two conference matches over the weekend, dropping a 3-4 contest to Georgia State before beating Coastal Carolina 4-2. Both games were hosted by Georgia State, with the Trojans taking on the Panthers on Saturday and Coastal Carolina on Sunday. Women’s tennis takes down UAB

Michael Shipma Sports Editor After losing its first six matches, the Troy women’s tennis team picked up its second win of the spring season by defeating UAB 4-2 on the road in Birmingham. A big part of the Trojans’ win was a clean sweep in doubles play as the duo of Jiayuan Xue and Efriliya Herlina shut out the Blazers’ Natalie Voss and Taylor Factor 6-0. Michael Shipma Sports Editor The Troy women’s tennis team snapped a six-match losing streak Saturday, defeating Bethune-Cookman 6-1 before falling to North Florida 1-6 the next day. Women’s tennis wraps up play in T-Town

Michael Shipma Sports Editor Sophomore Hannah Seizer led the Troy women’s tennis team in Tuscaloosa this weekend, winning her team’s only singles draw in the Roberta Alison Fall Classic hosted by Alabama. The Trojans struggled in singles play, with the exception of Seizer, while the doubles teams came much closer to victories in their brackets. Seizer advanced to the finals of her bracket after defeating West Alabama’s Andrea Tomassone in three sets.
