Women’s tennis team finishes at Roberta Alison Fall Invitational

Ty Ammons Staff Writer Two members from Troy University’s women’s tennis team competed on Oct. 31-Nov.2, in the Roberta Alison Fall Invitational tournament in Tuscaloosa. Junior Trang Huynh and freshman Sanae Ohta competed in both the singles and doubles draw in the tournament. Ohta played in the singles Flight 5 quarterfinals where she played sophomore Natalia Maynetto from the University of Alabama. Ohta lost in a tight match 6-0, 7-6. Tennis teams compete at the Big Easy Tennis Classic

Ty Ammons Staff Writer   The Troy University men’s and women’s tennis teams played in the Big Easy Tennis Classic at the University of New Orleans last weekend. The teams combined racked up 14 match wins on the opening day on Friday, Oct. 24. Ty Ammons Staff Writer   The Troy University men’s tennis team competed in the USTA/ITA Southern Regional in Auburn, on Oct. 16-18, and the women’s tennis team competed in the Samford Fall Round Robin in Birmingham on Oct. 17-19. Four women competed this weekend in singles and doubles matches, but none of the players were able to move past the fourth round. Troy tennis teams start up their seasons

Ty Ammons Staff Writer  The Troy Trojan tennis team began play in the ITA All-American Championships on Saturday, Sept. 27.  Four men from Troy’s team competed, and one woman competed and finished on Sunday, Sept. 28. The men’s and women’s tournaments were held in different places. The men’s tournament was held in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and the women’s tournament was held in Pacific Palisades, California. Tennis teams finish up in New Orleans

Wally Pendergrass Staff Writer   Four Trojans earned Sun Belt All-Conference honors in New Orleans last week and both teams’ seasons came to an end at the conference tournament. On the women’s side, sophomore Trang Huynh received Sun Belt All-Conference Singles First Team honors. Huynh had a great season, finishing with a 17-4 record and had a 10-match win streak going into the conference tournament. The women went 2-1 this week and finished their season at 14-7 overall and 3-1 in the Sun Belt. The men went 1-1 and finished their season with an 8-16 record and 0-1 in the Sun Belt Conference. The women extended their impressive winning streak to five matches after beating  Alabama State, Middle Tennessee State, and Florida A&M.
