Morgan Long

Fellow Trojans,

My name is Morgan Long, and I am a junior sports management major with a minor in leadership development. I have had the honor of serving Troy as an IMPACT Leader, Trojan Ambassador, Freshman Forum Delegate, SGA Senator, and currently, serve as the Vice President of Campus Activities for the Student Government Association (SGA).

With each of these positions I have learned more about our University and have seen areas that are in definite need of improvement. Along with my own experiences, I have listened to the student body and understand our immediate needs, to continue making Troy the best university it can be.

I promise to make Troy better every day I am in the office and will not stop working until we see much-needed improvements in many areas.

The first thing I want to address is safety. There needs to be adequate lighting in areas such as the Library, Pace Hall and Trojan Village. Additionally, we are in need of functional help buttons and visible security to help our students feel safe.

Next, our food service, quality, and offerings need to improve greatly to meet our needs. There needs to be a higher standard of service and quality of food on a consistent basis at both the Trojan Center Food Court and Trojan Dining. We need more options for meal plans, as well as a system that allows our Flex Points to carry over to the next semester.

Another obtainable change I plan to make is to divide graduation into two separate events. This will allow students to invite more guests to celebrate graduating from our University.

Finally, we need to modernize our IDs by implementing an existing app allowing Trojan IDs to be accessed from our mobile devices. This will get rid of fees for printing IDs and allow us to update our profiles remotely. Through the relationships I have built with upper-level administration in my previous service and then backed by the confidence of the student body I am positive these improvements are not just obtainable but will happen! Go Long for TROY!
