In 1934, the New York Southern Society began awarding the Algernon Sydney Sullivan Award for excellence of character and service to humanity at Peabody College, in honor of New York lawyer Algernon Sydney Sullivan. Now, the award honors graduating seniors at 61 institutions in America, at schools that include University of North Carolina, Duke University, and our own Troy University. Online Radio

A new online radio station completely headed by Troy students will be making its debut on Monday. The station will feature news and sports, as well as a collection of country, pop and international music. At the moment, the URL for the station is up for debate, but it will most likely be wiregrassstudentradio.com. Earth Week

Troy University environmental club celebrated Earth Week with various activities, prizes, and student involvement. Earth Day began in 1970 as a way to get citizens involved in trying to repair the damage that was happening to the environment. The idea came to Earth Day founder Gaylord Nelson, then a U.S. Senator from Wisconsin, after witnessing the ravages of the 1969 massive oil spill in Santa Barbara, California. In a fit of irony, it’s Microsoft’s pony that is the last to cross the finish line in next generation’s console race. Despite the Xbox 360’s early 2005 arrival in the face of the PlayStation 3 and the Wii, the announcement of the console’s successor, codenamed “Durango,” is one that has been shrouded in relative mystery… until now. The spring dance concert, Passage, is coming up soon, and it will showcase dancers from all around campus, as well as feature novel theatrical concepts that will enrapture the audience. The title, Passage, holds an extreme significance for the entirety of the program because it shows the diversity and passing into other styles, ranging from ballet to hip hop.
