Change. Adversity. Triumph. These are all things Zerian Hudson has experienced over his football career. The senior offensive lineman was recruited out of Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College in 2023. Hudson announced his commitment to Troy following a visit that season. Later, former head coach Jon Sumrall announced his departure, and Troy announced Gerad Parker as the new man to lead the team on Dec.18, 2023. Despite the changes, Hudson officially signed with the Tr
The Student Government Association (SGA) gathered in the senate chamber to recognize their biggest accomplishments of the semester on Wednesday. For the press conference, members of the executive council, presidential cabinet and the University Honors Global Scholars Program assembled to recognize what SGA President Caleb Smith called an unprecedented semester. Twelve pieces of legislation were passed by the senate and signed into law. According to Smith, two of those 1
Thanksgiving is an annual holiday celebrated in the United States on the fourth Thursday of November. However, contrary to popular belief, it is not only celebrated in the U.S. For example, Canada celebrates its own Thanksgiving on the second Monday of October each year. Derrick Goll is a sophomore electrical engineering major from Providence, Rhode Island. Goll is a first-generation Liberian American who celebrates Thanksgiving with a twist. “Liberian dishes are all rev

ESPN’s Pete Thamel broke the news on X, formerly known as Twitter, before Troy’s homecoming matchup. Troy football faced a major setback in a shutout loss to Old Dominion, 33-0 at S.B. Ballard Stadium on Thursday night. The game began with a thundering hit by Troy’s AZ Williams on the opening kickoff to start Old Dominion off on its own 13-yard line. Although ODU drove inside Troy’s 30-yard line, the Trojans managed to stop a fourth down conversion to take possession. The momentum for Troy came to a screeching halt from then on. On the first snap for the Trojans, Tae Meado
The Troy volleyball team split its final regular season series against App State in Boone, North Carolina to close out its season before heading down to the Sun Belt Conference Tournament. Sigma Tau Delta celebrated Indigenous voices in literature by holding an Indigenous Peoples Read-In last Wednesday afternoon in Smith Hall 267. This was the English Honor Society’s first ever Indigenous Peoples Read-In. Students and faculty members were all invited to attend. “I thought the read-in was a great way to bring attention to Indigenous writers,” said Emma Arnold, a junior English education major from Slocomb, Alabama. “I feel like that's a pretty marginalized
Anais' Annotations Real talk: getting along with your in-laws can be really hard. You may love them, but sometimes, you just wish they would do literally anything else than what they are doing. It is in-law relationships that spark the events of E. M. Forster’s “Where Angels Fear to Tread” (1905). This novel is a whiplash of drama, tragedy and romance, so buckle up. I have heard some mixed opinions on this work, but for myself, I quite like it, and one reason for my approval
Every single semester, whether it seems like it or not, stands as the end of some seniors’ experience as bachelor’s students. Reagen Simmons, a senior music industry major from Jacksonville, Alabama, is one of those students this semester. Simmons, a saxophonist, said when she first started as a Troy student, she never expected herself to be where she is today as a musician. “Troy has helped me grow immensely in my knowledge of many different styles of music, as well as my
I can’t believe my time at Troy University has swiftly come to an end. Despite everyone telling me to enjoy the college experience and how it will fly by in the blink of an eye, I truly didn’t expect it to fly by as quickly as it did. I don’t even know how to put my experience at Troy into words and have it live up to the reality of how wonderful it was. I'm so grateful for these past three and a half years and all the memories I’ve been blessed to walk away with having forev
It’s true what they say about time: it only gets faster. I never used to believe my family members and mentors who told me time flies even quicker once you graduate high school and get into college. Yet, here I am, about to graduate in less than a month, when it feels like I’ve only just adjusted to college life completely. Readers, to many of you, my name may not be familiar. I regret that I’ve never actually written an article before, but I’ve read nearly every one to gra
The final edition is here. I can hardly believe it. This entire semester, I have struggled to come to terms with the fact that it’s time to say goodbye. On December 12, I will be a graduate of Troy University, and what an experience it has been. If I could describe Troy in one word, it would be “opportunity.” Through this school, I have learned and grown so much, through good times and bad. I’ve made so many wonderful memories with so many wonderful people, and I’m truly sad
