Lindsey Harrison’s 13-over par proved to be the difference maker as the Troy women’s golf team secured second place out of 11 teams in the Sun Belt Conference Championship, which concluded Tuesday afternoon.

The Trojans landed three players in the top 20 of the individual leaderboards and scored 300-306-300 through three rounds as a team over a three-day stretch at the Raven Golf Club in Sandestin, Florida.

Coastal Carolina went home with its first-ever conference championship at 20-over par as a team, which was a full 34 shots ahead of Troy. After the Trojans, the next closest team was Georgia Southern at 62 shots over par.

Lindsey Harrison led the way for the Trojans with an on-par finish after day one which included three birdies. Despite having the individual lead, Harrison shot 4-over par on day two and fell to second place through tough winds.

Lindsey Harrison dropped eight spots on day three after going 9-over, but still managed to tie for 10th place.

Teammate Sarah Harrison stayed close behind at 15-over and was able to birdie at least once in each round.

Harrison had to overcome a slow start after going 8-over in day one, but improved each day to finish in a tie for 15th place.

With a four-way tie for 20th place, Eva Fabricius-Bjerre’s three-day score of 83-76-71 gave Troy a boost. Her even score in round three was the best among the Trojans.

This included a finish to her tournament on the final nine holes which shaved off three strokes from her scorecard.

One week after a top-10 finish, Bianca Lohbauer tied for 26th, finishing with a score of 75-79-78.

Antonio Poate rounded out the five-player lineup with a tie for 30th and made sure no Trojan finished outside of the top 30.

With the season now officially over, Troy looks forward to a five-month break before the 2018-2019 season kicks off in September.
