As the student newspaper for Troy University, the Tropolitan aims to provide a platform where students can express their views. Being a student newspaper means that students are not just our readers but also the ones who shape, create and report the news.

The First Amendment to the United States Constitution guarantees us free speech and we as a student publication would like to provide a platform for just that.

We publish contributions or letters to the editor addressing issues ranging from those pertaining to the university directly to matters stirring national debate. We also invite responses to columns or editorials that we publish in order to foster discussion and a free exchange of ideas.

There will be disagreements, but we encourage you to engage in an exchange of ideas because, at the end of the day, that’s what college is about.

A conversation beginning in polar ends might help you see the perspectives of others. That way we can promote discussion on societal issues.

Nothing is a non-issue. If you want to talk about it, someone wants to hear it.

Please feel free to submit any contributions to opinion@tropnews.com or contact us with any questions that you have. You can even reach us through our social media platforms or through our website www.tropnews.com.

You can also contact either of us at

zhenson@tropnews.com or pradyot@tropnews.com with any comments, concerns or suggestions and we will gladly address them.
