On Tuesday, Troy announced the hire of Luke Meadows as its offensive coordinator and offensive line coach.

Meadows spent the past two seasons serving as the offensive line coach at Kansas. He also served on staff with Chip Lindsay at Southern Miss when Lindsay was the Golden Eagles offensive coordinator.

Under Meadows’ guidance, Jackrabbit offensive linemen combined for seven First-Team All-Conference selections, 10 Second-Team selections, and a pair of All-Americans.

Lindsay on Tuesday spoke on Meadows character on and off the field.

“Luke is an outstanding football coach and an even better person,” Lindsey said. “I’ve known Luke for a long time and his track record of building premier offensive lines speaks for itself. We’re excited to have him part of our family, and I’ve seen firsthand during our time at Southern Miss his ability to motivate, coach and mentor young men to not only be great football players but also leaders on campus and in the community.”

Troy was in the market for a new offensive line coach and offensive coordinator after Ryan Pugh left for Baylor. Pugh’s job offer was rescinded from Baylor seemingly after a controversial photo was discover by the Bears staff.

In addition to Kansas (2019-20) and Southern Miss (2014-15), Meadows has also coached at Eastern Michigan (2017-18), Garden City (Kan.) Community College (2016), Florida Atlantic (2012-13) and his alma mater South Dakota State (2002-11).

Meadows is excited to join the Troy community and said the bond between the university and the community is unlike anywhere in the country.

“My family and I are excited to be joining the Trojan football family and Troy community,” Meadows said. “This is a special place where the community and university have a strong bond that is different from anywhere in the country. Life is about people and relationships.”

Meadows also said he feels blessed to be able to work with Lindsay again and is ready to do his part to help Troy succeed.

“Coach Lindsey and I have worked together in the past and experienced a lot of success together. I am blessed to be working with people that I know, trust and respect at Troy. I look forward to doing my part in helping Troy reach its goals.”
