Troy’s track and field team wrapped up its final competition of the regular season last Sunday at First National Bank Arena in Jonesboro, Arkansas, at the Scarlet and Black Invitational.

Edita Sklenska highlighted the day with a first-place finish and a school record in the 800m (2:07.18) while Tanner Guest secured two podium finishes in the mile and 800m.

“Today was a very good day,” said Mark Davis, director of Troy’s track and field and cross country program. “We made a long trip hoping for results and in most cases, we got them.”

“Edita Sklenska is having a great year,” Davis said. “She currently has the number one time in the Sun Belt and the 14th-best time nationally in the 800m and is a part of our 4×400 that has the number one time in the conference.”

Troy swept the high jump with freshman Maja Kuessner (1.73m) winning on the women’s side and Titus Sizemore (2.09m) taking gold in the men’s competition. Jade Johnson posted a personal best in the triple jump to earn silver with a mark of 12.22m.

Three Trojans finished on the podium in the 3000m with Macki Walsh (10:08.84), Cadi Rowe (10:13.67) and Caroline Sall (10:16.94) placing first, second and third. Troy took the top two wspots in the mile with Tanner Guest’s (5:00.10) gold medal and Lauren Locke’s (5:01.24) silver.

Mikhail Carvalho (6.88) took gold in the men’s 60m and Quinest Bishop (6.90) followed closely behind to earn silver in the event. Rayne Duhart (7.74) made it a sweep for the sprinters with a first-place finish in the women’s 60m dash.

Sage Delfino had a solid outing in the mile, earning a spot on the podium with a third-place finish in 4:28.70. Ines Garcia also earned a bronze medal on the day after taking third in the 60m hurdles with a time of 9 seconds. Both the men’s and women’s 4×400 relays took gold to close out the day’s competition.

Troy’s next track and field meet will be the Sun Belt Indoor Championship in Birmingham, Alabama, at the Birmingham CrossPlex on Feb. 22-23.
