Men’s Tennis defeats Alabama State to improve to 7-1 on the season

The Troy men’s tennis team improved to following a 7-0 win over Alabama State at the Lunsford Tennis Complex. 

Troy kicked off the day with winning performances from Christopher Tasker and Nicolas Simkin, posting three victories in doubles play. Francisco Erramuspe and Vito Llinares posted another win in doubles play to take the point for Troy en route to the shutout victory. 

In singles play, Troy found much of the same success. Tasker and Pelayo Antuna each won their respective matchups to give the Trojans a 3-0 advantage over the Hornets.

Antuna, facing off against Alabama State’s Ruan Du Preez, fought his way back to win the first set, 7-6 and took the second set, 6-1.

Llinares, with the opportunity to clinch the match for the Trojans, defeated Juan Rodriguez 6-3, 6-3. 

 Up next, the Trojans look ahead to the HEB Invitational, held by Texas A&M. Following the trip to Corpus Christi, Texas, the Trojans will then travel to Chattanooga, Tennessee mto take on the Mocs.
