Eric Masters named new Associate Head Coach

Last month, new Troy soccer head coach Stuart Gore hired Eric Masters to be the new associate head coach.

Masters will also spearhead recruiting for the Trojans as the recruiting coordinator.

Masters brings loads of experience from all parts of the country. This includes stints at Long Island in New York, North Dakota Grand Forks in North Dakota, and Northwestern State in Louisiana.

Masters reunites with Gore as they both coached together at two separate schools at North Dakota in 2020 and Northwestern State in 2022.

“After playing in college at Long Island University Brooklyn, I became a graduate assistant,” Masters said when asked how he got into soccer. “[I] loved the college game, loved recruiting, winning, [and] traveling across the country, putting all the pieces together to win championships. [It] was just a good feeling.”

Masters is originally from Carmel, Indiana, and played college soccer at Long Island in Brooklyn, New York, where he was s goalkeeper. Masters will primarily coach the goalkeepers for the Trojans.

Masters said his vision for the program is what made him want to come to Troy.

“I felt that the athletic administration wanted to win at everything,” Masters said “They had the same vision that our head coach Stuart Gore wanted…The ability to recruit the southeast and our location to many events in Florida felt like we had the makings of what a good program can become.”

When asked about what he will bring to the team coaching and recruiting-wise, he emphasized the collective group of individuals.
