The Trojans took on the ULM Warhawks, a team known for its productive offense over the past few years, and lost 22-20 on Saturday, Sept. 27.

Redshirt freshman quarterback Brandon Silvers got the start after recovering from a concussion against Abilene Christian a few weeks ago. Silvers completed 23 of 34 passing attempts for a total gain of 270 passing yards with three passing touchdowns.

Unfortunately, ULM started out strong in the first quarter leading Troy by a score of 10-0.

Troy didn’t score until there were six minutes left in the second quarter, but the Trojans got the ball back quick and scored again before the end of the half, going up 14-13.

The Trojan defense struggled to stop the passing game, but the front line finally stepped up and stopped the running game, only allowing 29 total rushing yards.

The game as a whole was a very defensive game. Both teams gained just over 350 total offensive yards.

In the second half, both Troy and ULM struggled to get started, but the Warhawks scored towards the end of the 3rd quarter on a 15-yard pass from senior quarterback Pete Thomas to sophomore wide receiver Ajalen Holley.

The Trojans finally answered back by scoring with only 7:36 left to go in the game and went up 20-19 after a failed 2-point conversion.

However, ULM would slowly march down the field and take almost five and a half minutes off the clock and kick its third field goal of the night to take the lead from Troy.
