Troy’s softball team bounced back from its recent losses against Texas State and defeated Florida A&M 2-0 on Tuesday, April 14.

Although Troy’s win streak was broken in the Texas State series, the Trojans were quick to redeem themselves.

Junior pitcher Ashley Rainey picked up her 10th win of the season and pitched a complete shutout. She allowed only four hits and one walk.

Junior shortstop Kate Benton was the only Trojan to score and she crossed home plate twice during the game.

In the top of the third inning, Benton walked and then stole second. When her teammate junior catcher Hannah Day flied out, Benton advanced to third

Thanks to a Lady Rattler error, freshman center fielder Carli Kayler reached second base and Benton scored.

Later in the fifth inning, Troy added a run thanks to Day’s RBl single up the left side that allowed Benton to score again.

Troy will face Georgia Southern on April 18 and 19 and then will play a midweek game against Alabama on April 21 before finally having another home stand.
