Jill Odom Sports Editor The Troy track and field team wrapped up the War Eagle Invitational with several top-three finishes on Saturday, April 18. The Trojans returned to Auburn on Friday, April 17. Senior Demetris Elia picked up third place in the men’s hammer throw. Teammate freshman Joevar James also placed third in his event, the javelin throw. In the women’s field events, sophomore Allison Taylor threw her hammer 42.77 meters. Men’s golf takes fifth place in Sun Belt Championship

Jill Odom Sports Editor The men’s golf team finished up the Sun Belt Championship in fifth place after dropping from second place during the final round on Monday, April 21. The No. 55 Trojans traveled to Miramar Beach, Florida, to compete for the conference title at the Raven Golf Course. Among the competitors were No. 43 Georgia Southern and No. 62 Georgia State. Jill Odom Sports Editor The Troy track and field team left the USA Invitational victorious with a first-place overall win for the team on Saturday, April 11. Troy traveled to Mobile on Thursday, April 10, and competed against 16 teams, including Sun Belt rivals South Alabama, UL Lafayette and Arkansas State. Sophomores Aleeah Stigarll and Riley Schwietz got things started for the Trojans on Thursday. Softball team bounces back against Florida A&M

Jill Odom Sports Editor   Troy’s softball team bounced back from its recent losses against Texas State and defeated Florida A&M 2-0 on Tuesday, April 14. Although Troy’s win streak was broken in the Texas State series, the Trojans were quick to redeem themselves. Junior pitcher Ashley Rainey picked up her 10th win of the season and pitched a complete shutout. She allowed only four hits and one walk. Jill Odom Sports Editor   The pouring rain and lightening did not dampen the spirits of the women’s golf team, and that determination helped the team clench its second straight Sun Belt Conference Championship. Returning to Loxley on Monday, April 13, Troy was still on the front nine when inclement weather struck. Play was halted and Troy wrapped up the opening round on Tuesday.
