Jill Odom Sports Editor The Troy track and field team raised the bar at the Tiger Track Classic and 23 Trojans set new personal records throughout the events on Friday, April 3, and Saturday, April 4. The Trojans traveled to Auburn for the event, and Sun Belt rival South Alabama was among the competitors. Trojans vanquish the Blazers

Jill Odom Sports Editor The Troy softball team snapped its five-game losing streak in the second game of the UAB doubleheader on Tuesday, March 31. In game one of the doubleheader, the Blazers scored first in the second inning. The Trojans tied things up in the bottom of the sixth when sophomore shortstop Becca Hartley hit a solo homer over the left field wall. Jill Odom Sports Editor The Troy track and field team competed in the University of North Florida Spring Break Invitational and finished with several top-five finishes on Friday, March 27, and Saturday, March 28.  On Friday, freshman Corina Cox won the women’s discus throw with a 50.99-meter toss. This is now Cox’s third-straight win in the discus event. She was also named last week’s Sun Belt Women’s Field Athlete of the Week. Women’s basketball falls to Mercer in the postseason

Jill Odom Sports Editor The Troy women’s basketball team’s chance at redemption was lost after the Trojans fell behind early in the first half against Mercer in Macon, Georgia, on Thursday, March 19. Troy was selected to be the No. 5 seed in the Women’s Basketball Invitational, but lost the game to No. 4 Mercer 83-68. Mercer took the lead from the very beginning, and at 10:02 the Bears were dominating 25-4. Despite the team being composed of eight freshmen and four seniors, Mercer proved a threat to the Trojans.…

Jill Odom Sports Editor The Troy track and field team shone bright at the John Mitchell Alabama Relays, despite a short power outage on Friday, March 20. During the first day of the meet at Tuscaloosa, Troy had three top-10 finishes from senior Paige McMillan, sophomore Cameron Rice, and the women’s 4×200-meter relay team. McMillan placed fourth in the 100-meter dash after crossing the finish line in 12.17 seconds. She also was a part of the relay team that placed ninth at 1:39.54.
