Kat Rogers Staff Writer  Publix Super Market will open its doors at 8 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 21, following a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 7:45 a.m. The 45,600 sq. ft. store, on which construction began in September 2015, will be located across George Wallace Drive from Sonic, and behind Popeye’s, AT&T and Panda Express. According to Harbert Retail, the development company overseeing the Publix project, Marco’s Pizza, Goldfingers and Beaute Nail Spa are planned to join the storefronts in the Publix shopping center. Kat Rogers Staff Writer Lambda Alpha Epsilon, Troy’s criminal justice club, received awards in every category during a conference members attended in Chattanooga, Tennessee, at the end of October. Seven members of the club attended the conference and participated in the lower, upper and professional divisions. Relieve stress with puppies

Kat Rogers Staff Writer Troy’s Student Alumni Association will be having their “Puppies on the Quad” event on Friday, Nov. 4, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., on the social quad behind the Trojan Center. The first goal of the event is to help Troy Animal Rescue Project find as many homes for their animals as possible. These are the animals that will be brought from TARP to the quad on Friday. Kat Rogers Staff Writer As election season approaches, voter registration drives have been held on Troy University’s main campus to promote voter education and provide assistance on voting applications. The Student Government Association held voter registration drives during September and October in order to help students prepare for the the upcoming presidential election on Tuesday, Nov. 8. Fraternity holds fundraiser

Kat Rogers Staff Writer Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity held a fundraiser in support of Troy adjunct history professor, Joseph Arnold, whose home recently burned down. Arnold is visually impaired, and he and his family lost his eSight device in the fire, among many other valuable items. Though Arnold’s house will be covered by insurance, his eSight will not be.
