Ty Ammons Staff Writer The Troy University baseball and softball teams have hired additional assistant coaches this year, Blake Beck and Jaycee Affeldt, respectively. The baseball team hired Beck, a native of Hamilton, who served two years as Troy’s video coordinator and two years as Mississippi State’s video coordinator, a position he left last year. Beck moves into the position of volunteer assistant coach following Logan Pierce’s departure to the University of Alabama-Huntsville. The losses Troy suffered in the final two games snapped a seven-game win streak for the Trojans (25-19, 8-7 Sun Belt), who are currently fifth in the Sun Belt standings. Jill Odom Sports Editor Troy’s softball team bounced back from its recent losses against Texas State and defeated Florida A&M 2-0 on Tuesday, April 14. Although Troy’s win streak was broken in the Texas State series, the Trojans were quick to redeem themselves. Junior pitcher Ashley Rainey picked up her 10th win of the season and pitched a complete shutout. She allowed only four hits and one walk.
