Trojan volleyball team drops its win streak, falls to UTA

Hanna Cooper Staff Writer The Troy volleyball team’s win streak came to an end this weekend after two tough losses to the two Texas Sun Belt schools.  On Friday night, Troy took on the UTA Mavericks in the Trojan Arena. The Mavericks defeated Troy in three sets and end some notable Troy stat streaks. The first set remained tight until the Mavericks went on a 10-point streak, giving them a 19-13 advantage. Hanna Cooper Staff Writer The volleyball team traveled to Louisiana on Friday night, looking to break a five-game losing streak against Louisiana’s Sun Belt duo of ULM and UL-Lafayette. Troy (8-11, 2-4 Sun Belt) picked up its first pair of conference wins over the weekend, winning both games 3-1. Troy started slow in the opening set, falling behind 10-3. Hanna Cooper Staff Writer After a pair of conference losses in Arkansas, Troy volleyball traveled back home to take on Georgia State and Georgia Southern in the conference home openers.  In Friday night’s matchup, Troy lost a tight five-set match to the Georgia State Panthers.  Troy jumped out to a hot start, sweeping the first match 25-12. Hanna Cooper Staff Writer The Troy volleyball team traveled to Jonesboro to kick off conference play against the Arkansas State Red Wolves, who went 12-4 in conference play last season. Troy fell to the Red Wolves in three close sets on Friday night.  The Trojans held the lead in the first set up until the 12-9 score mark.
