Troy University’s Circle K chapter is hosting a “Single Pringle Mingle” on Feb. 7 to give students the chance to meet their potential Valentine or to mix with other single people at the event.
“There’s going to be food and games and a photo wall to take pictures,” said Emma Ruiz, a freshman history education major from Birmingham, Alabama, and the chair of the Circle K Committee. “I think we’re going to get Chick-fil-A and candy.”
There will also be raffles for students to win free bowling tickets to Dothan Lanes.
“It’s important to students so they can meet new people and not feel as alone in college,” Ruiz said. “Therefore, even if you’re not trying to date someone, you can still make new friends.”
According to Ruiz, Valentine’s Day “can be lonely,” so she said this event encourages students to meet people and form relationships and friendships.
Everyone is welcome, she said — not just singles.
“I think it’s a great event for single people to meet each other,” said Sarah Bradley, a junior social work major from Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. “You hardly see events around Valentine’s Day for people without a boyfriend or girlfriend.”
Laura Grace Dennis, a freshman mathematics major from Prattville, Alabama, and a member of Circle K, said she was “really excited” to attend the event.
“(Circle K members have) been working really hard to make sure everything is perfect,” Dennis said. “I think it’ll be a great event for people to make new friends and maybe even meet a person to spend Valentine’s Day with!”
The event is scheduled for Feb. 7 in the Trojan Center from 6 to 9 p.m. Tickets are $5 per person.
