Athletic Director Brent Jones announced Troy Athletics received a historic $1 million anonymous philanthropic commitment. This gift commitment will be used to support the construction of an indoor practice facility.

"The donor is a longtime supporter of Troy University, as well as the athletics department," said Chancellor Dr. Jack Hawkins, Jr. "His love for the university runs deep, as a proud alum, and this lead gift for the indoor practice facility is one more way in which he has demonstrated that love.

“We are deeply grateful for the tremendous support."

This gift commitment is one of the largest received by Troy Athletics in the university's history.

"I am very thankful and appreciative of this transformative donation that will act as the lead gift for the indoor practice facility," Jones said. "This facility project will benefit and impact several of our athletic programs and student-athletes."

A full photo gallery was uploaded on troytrojans.com on what the indoor practice facility is envisioned to look like. It appears that it will be located somewhere on the football practice field.

Despite its location, all student athletes and athletic programs will have access to it.

"My family and I are thrilled to be able to make this donation to the university that we love for the completion of the indoor practice facility," said the donor. "We hope this donation helps spur even more gifts for this project."

Shortly after receiving this gift commitment, Troy Athletics received a $500,000 naming rights commitment for the football locker room. This locker room, located in the North End Zone Facility, will be named after Troy Football alum Kyle Cox and his family.

"Kyle was not only a great player for the Trojans but also became a very successful businessman who revolutionized an industry,” Jones said. "Kyle Cox has left an incredible legacy on the Troy University football program, and we are honored to have the locker room named after him and his wonderful family."
