A look into March video game releases

February gave players a lot of titles to look forward to, but March heralds the release of “The Division,” a highly anticipated Tom Clancy entry; “Black Desert Online,” a game hailed for its character creation; and “Pokkén Tournament,” a Pokémon fighting game.

March 1

“Alekhine’s Gun” and “Heavy Rain” were released on March 1.

“Alekhine’s Gun” features Agent Alekhine, a CIA spy operating during the Cold War and World War II.

It’s a third-person stealth game that was released on PC, PS4 and Xbox One.

On Metacritic, it’s only received two dismal reviews. TheSixthAxis states that “It’s not impossible to overlook Alekhine’s shopping list of shortcomings.

“However, the consistency simply isn’t there.”

“Heavy Rain” is a remaster of the original game for PS3. If you haven’t had a chance to play the original, now is the time. Guillaume de Fondaumiere said on Playstation’s blog that the remaster focused on updating graphics.

March 3

“Black Desert Online,” for PC, boasts one of the most in-depth character creators ever seen in an Massively Multiplayer Online game.

Pearl Abyss, the developer, released the character creator as a standalone program. The game also has a true open world setting, where players encounter loading screens only when entering dungeons.

On the website MMORPG, they have a “hype-level” meter, and it’s currently at 8.12.

March 4

“Ultimate Chicken Horse” is an indie multiplayer game developed by Clever Endeavour Games.

It will be released initially on Steam (PC) but will come to consoles at an undetermined date.

The game combines elements of level-building and platforming in a unique way. Players need to make the level hard enough so their friends can’t win but easy enough so they can complete the level.

There are options to play the game locally or online.

March 8

“The Division” is an online open world third-person shooter game coming from Ubisoft. It was initially announced at the Electronic Entertainment Expo in 2013, and nearly three years later, we get to see the results. It will be released on PC, PS4 and Xbox One.

It takes place in Manhattan amidst the chaos of a viral outbreak.

March 11

“Hitman” is the sixth installment in a series of stealth games and will be released on PC, PS4 and Xbox One.

This installment will take place after the events of “Hitman Absolution.”

The game will be released in episodes, so on March 11 players will be receiving only episode one.

New content will be released on a monthly basis in April and May.

March 18

“Pokkén Tournament,” developed by Bandai Namco Entertainment, will be released only on Wii U.

The game exclusively features Pokémon and has been made to appeal to both casual and more experienced players.

The first print of these games will include a Shadow Mewtwo amiibo card within the packaging.
