Football plays in the 2019 spring game.

Troy football is set to hold its annual T-Day event on April 12 at the Veterans Memorial

Stadium. While the Spring football game will kick off at 2 p.m., the activities start at 11 a.m. for an action-packed day.

Troy Athletics partnered with The Vance Law Firm for this event.

“I'm looking forward to a lot this year,” said running back Jordan Lovett. “We definitely got better coming into this year and built chemistry as a team, so I feel like that's just going to bring everything together while making us do what we do.

“We're going to come in, just work to get things done and use this as another opportunity to get better.”

The day will start off with Troy's annual Lunch with Legends, featuring DeWhitt Betterson, Sr., Richard Shaughnessy, Corey Robinson and Lawrence Tynes. Tickets are $30 per person and will include lunch.

After Lunch with Legends takes place, Troy Regional will present the Youth Football Clinic. This free event is open to kids ages five to 12 and will take place on Larry Blakeney Field from noon to 1 p.m. This clinic will include drills and instruction from head football coach Gerad Parker and other members of the coaching staff and players.

“Having a better understanding of what Troy is in this place, this university, this town and the people, I'm so excited about T-Day because it is about us serving our community, the kids of our community, our youth and of course, our players and their families,” said Head Coach Gerad Parker. “We're really excited just to serve them, make it about our people, make them smile and make it about them on T-Day while building better relationships with our people.

“The players want to play well in front of their people and serve them. There's no better motivator than that. We want to show off who they are and who our team is for this season and continue to take one step towards better.”

Before heading straight for the spring football game, the Troy Athletics Yard Sale will take place on the West Concourse of the Veteran Memorial Stadium. A few of the items that will be for sale include helmet decals, shirts, football and other sports jerseys, pants, shorts, hoodies, cleats and shoes.

All proceeds will support travel abroad opportunities for Troy University student-athletes.

T-Day’s Spring football game will be the highlight of the day. Admission is free for all fans. The Vance Law Firm will be giving away prizes throughout the game, specifically at the end of the first quarter, during halftime and at the end of the third quarter.

“When me and the guys hit the field, I have a lot of fun,” said quarterback Goose Crowder. “I have some of my best friends out here, so I just love playing football, and I’m looking forward to it.

“I’m ready to see all the fans and everybody in the vet, so it'll be a fun time.”

The day will end with Troy softball's game against Georgia Southern at 4 p.m. at the Troy Softball Complex. Admission is free for all fans. To purchase tickets for Lunch with Legends, visit www.TroyTrojans.com/LunchWithLegends.
