Apple releases iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus details, introduces EarPods

Technology is making leaps and bounds in every facet of life, making life easier and college students less likely to do their homework. After getting Netflix, we have been sitting in our dark rooms, watching “Friends,” and anxiously waiting for the next breakthrough to surface.

Well, wait no further.

After months of media speculation, Apple has finally introduced the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, as well as the unexpected Apple Watch 2.

Most of the iPhone’s features are what you could expect: better cameras, no headphone jacks (that’s right, we are now wireless) and waterproofing technology.

The highly-anticipated phone was announced early Wednesday, Sept. 7 at an annual event showcasing their new and improved devices in San Francisco.

“iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus dramatically improve every aspect of the iPhone experience, reaching a new level of innovation and precision to make this the best iPhone we have ever made,” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing.

The new phones will feature a dual 12-megapixel camera with optimal image stabilization technology to make for a better, clearer photo.

They will also have a new depth-of-field quality that once could only be achieved by DSLR cameras.

The “selfie cam” will also take better-quality pictures so you can take professional self-portraits on the fly.

The iPhone 7 will have a longer battery life—2 hours longer than the iPhone 6s. The iPhone 7 Plus will last about an hour longer.

The new iPhones will also have brighter retina displays and improved sound systems with stereo speakers that will be twice as loud as the iPhone 6s.

iPhone will offer EarPods with every purchase of an iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus as an alternative to traditional headphones.

These wireless headphones priced at $159 will not be available for purchase until the end of October.

Customers will also receive a headphone jack adapter so you can still use your old headphones. This will be useful in the likely incident that we lose our headphones.

The color of the phone does not really matter all that much these days since most of us cautiously cling to the security of a LifeProof case, but here they are: silver, gold, rose gold, glossy black and matte black.

Now, Apple does not actually boast a “waterproof” iPhone, but rather a “dust and water resistant” phone. Do not try to take cool, underwater pictures.

While they are tempting, they are also dangerous. Apple’s warranty does not extend to damage caused by liquid.

You’re a lot less likely to see the infamous “You’re storage is almost full” message, since Apple is officially doing away with the 16 GB option. The lowest storage option is 32 GB.

The new iPhone’s come with new software iOS 10, available starting Sept. 13.

Now, let’s talk numbers. The iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, available in 32 GB, 128 GB (what a jump) and 256 GB (whoa) models, will start at $649.

The jet black finish will only be available in 128 GB and 256 GB models.

The public will officially be graced with the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus on Sept. 16.

Apple’s full press release of the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus can be found on Apple’s website.
