Attention baseball fanatics: Troy baseball is back – almost. Baseball season is right around the corner, and the Trojans are garnering some attention.

D1Baseball currently has the Trojans ranked No. 65 in their list of Top 100 programs. The list is compiled of some of the most notable teams in Division I baseball.

Last year the Trojans finished with an overall record of 37-22, going 18-12 in conference play.

Going into 2025, the expectations are high for the Trojans. This was done under the tutelage of head coach Skylar Meade. Meade coached his boys to the top of several statistical categories. The Trojans led the Sun Belt Conference in strikeouts per nine innings, with 10.6, and triples, with 19.

Multiple players decided to return and don the Power T for another season. One of those guys is outfielder Shane Lewis. In 2023, Lewis had a monster year being one of four Trojans selected to an all-conference team. He produced on both ends – he hit 27 homeruns on a .286 batting average. Lewis also tallied 99 putouts with a fielding percentage over .950.

Although 2024 didn’t have the same level of production, Lewis started to heat up at the end of the season.

Troy also added some pieces. Through the transfer portal, Colby Frieda and Noah Edders joined the team. Both pitchers have experience and fill roles vacated in the offseason.

Frieda signed on as a bullpen piece, whereas Edders signed on to fill a role in the starting rotation. Troy also is home to two of Perfect Game’s Top 500 Fresh Arrivals on Campus.

Alabama natives and former high school teammates Peryn Bland and Drake Mcbride were named in the top 400.

Bland is looking to make an impact as an outfielder. The No. 314 ranked prospect is coming off a senior year where he batted .343 bringing in 30 runs. The former Thompson High School player earned a 7A All-State Second Team selection.

Mcbride comes in as an outfielder. Ranked No. 327, Mcbride brings speed to the outfield. He batted .375 and tallied 16 stolen bases during his senior campaign.

The Troy Trojans will get the opportunity to display their talents soon. Their fall exhibition games are scheduled for Oct.18 and 27, respectively. They will be taking on Northwest Florida State on the 18th, and Tennessee on the 27th.
