Bulldogs bowl over the Trojans

The Trojans suffered a devastating 66-0 loss to No. 13, the Georgia Bulldogs, on Saturday, Sept. 20.

On Troy’s first drive, it went all the way from its 23 yard line to the Georgia’s nine yard line but came up with no points as sophomore kicker Ryan Kay missed a 26-yard field goal.

Following the missed field goal, Georgia marched right down the field, and scored a touchdown. The touchdown was scored by freshman running back Sony Michel on six-yard run up the middle.

On Troy’s second drive, they fumbled the ball and Georgia recovered it. After the fumble was recovered at the Troy 27 yard line, it only took Georgia four plays to score a touchdown.

Georgia scored one more time in the first quarter, which gave the Bulldogs 21 points to finish the first quarter.

Georgia went on to score 24 points in the second quarter, seven points in the third quarter and 14 points in the fourth quarter.

Junior quarterback Dontreal Pruitt started due to the fact redshirt freshman quarterback Brandon Silvers was out with a concussion. Pruitt was 16-27 for 158 yards with one interception.

The Trojans had many chances to score points, but almost every time inside the opponent’s 20-yard line they had a lot of dropped passes, an interception, or a fumble.

Georgia returned three punts for 104 yards, and one touchdown. Troy had one punt return for zero yards.

Troy had trouble the whole day trying to stop the rushing trio from Georgia consisting of Michel, junior tailbacks Todd Gurley and Keith Marshall. Troy gave up 367 rushing yards throughout the game.
