Cross country races ahead in second meet

After competing in the Southern Showcase against nearly 50 opponents, Troy Cross Country placed 25th and 29th for the men’s and women’s teams, respectively.  

Sophomore Keith Warner led the Trojan men for the seventh straight meet, finishing in 96th place. Warner set a new personal best of 25:33.88, shattering his previous record of 26:01.70. 

Sophomore Caden Blackman ran the second-fastest time on the team, finishing in 199th place while clocking in at 26:39.96. Blackman beat his previous 8k personal record by over 45 seconds. 

Riley Treadaway rounded out the top three for the men’s side in 227th place with a time of 26:57.93.  

Patterson Graham finished 231st with a time of 27:00.61. Lane Watson placed 247th with a time of 27:09.55.  Both freshmen set personal records along with Bennett Phillips. 

The Trojan men bested Morehead State, UT Southern and West Georgia. 

Freshmen Alexiana Hinote and Arianna Elder competed for the top spot on the women’s team. Hinote cameout on top, finishing in 168th place with a time of 18:57.12. However, Elder was close behind with a time of 18:57.72, good for 171st place. The time earned her a new personal record. 

Lucy Turley finished in 216th place with a time of 19:30.32 while Reece Knowlton finished 264th at 20:09.55. 

 One meet after setting a new personal best, Aisley McMeen shaved more time off of her record. She ran the 5k in 20:38.90, finishing in 293rd place. The Trojans are back in action Friday, Sept. 27 as they head to the Greenbrier XC Course in Grady, Alabama, to compete in the Huntingdon 8k/6k.
