In last week’s paper, the Tropolitan published an article with an update on the condition of Aleeza Kempton, a senior from Santa Rosa, Florida, who was in a car accident on March 5.
It was brought to the Tropolitan’s attention that some of the information provided to us was incorrect.
Kempton is now in Brooks Rehabilitation Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida. According to her sister-in-law, Jordan Kempton, she is doing very well.
“Yesterday (Monday, March 21), she walked up three flights of stairs,” she said.
However, she is not “up and running around” as stated in the previous article. She does have a cracked pelvis, spinal injury and brain trauma. She has suffered no long-term brain damage or memory loss.
Also, her dog Bentley, who had been missing since the accident, has been returned to her.
The community where she had her wreck set up a live trap for him. He was recovered last Thursday, March 17, around midnight, and Kempton was surprised with him the next day.
As of right now, she is still working with the university to graduate on time this May. However, her focus right now is healing, according to Jordan Kempton.
Though the family did plan to sell T-shirts to cover Kempton’s medical bills, they have not begun selling the shirts, unlike previously reported.
“Things are just too busy right now,” Jordan Kempton said. “We want to let her heal before we try to sell T-shirts. Hopefully we will have them for sale so her younger friends can wear them to graduation.”
