Every year, the homecoming skit night brings hilarious scenes to life with costumes and comedy. On Friday, a total of five fraternities and six sororities performed skits based on popular movies with their own homecoming twist on the plot, inspired by the homecoming theme “Trojans Most Wanted.”

Some movies included “Back to the Future,” “Shrek” and “Jumanji.”

John Elliott, a junior risk management major from Birmingham, Alabama, attended skit night last Friday. Elliott was the homecoming chair for Sigma Chi.“Skit was very enthusiastic and exciting,” Elliot said. “The atmosphere was very lively.

"I was engaged, everybody was interacting, people were laughing, and everybody was wanting to know what comes next.”

Halee Brown, a junior elementary education major, from Brewton, Alabama, was the homecoming chair for Alpha Gamma Delta. She admits that while homecoming week and planning for skit has been challenging, it has also been a rewarding experience.

“It’s been an honor,” Brown said. “It's been stressful and overwhelming, but I'm just glad God gave me this opportunity.

“I have enjoyed it, and I wouldn’t trade it for the world.”

Brown attended skit night for a night of fun and to support her sorority, Alpha Gamma Delta, whose skit was a homecoming twist based on “The Hunger Games.”

“The girls who were in it really took it and ran with it and did a really good job,” Brown said. “We wouldn’t be able to get anything done without the members in our chapter.

“They really mean a lot to us, and they’ve pulled a lot of weight, doing anything they could to help us and assist us.”

Compared to some of Troy’s other homecoming events, such as the homecoming parade or the pep rally, skit night is one of Brown’s favorite parts of homecoming week.

“Pep rally was kind of crazy because we had to get up and scream the whole time,” Brown said. “But I enjoy skit since it’s our most relaxing and laid-back event.

“We just get to sit back, and it always gives everybody a good, enjoyable way to end the week.”

Kaitlyn Barnes, a sophomore marketing major from Mobile, Alabama, is a part of Chi Omega. Her sorority performed a homecoming skit based on “The Avengers.”

“I think everybody did a really good job,” Barnes said. “It was very creative, and they were all so different and had a unique twist on them.

“It's really fun to see everyone’s takes on what they think homecoming is,” Barnes said.

“Everybody was laughing, making memories with friends, and it just brought everybody together.“The girl I was sitting next to -- every time something funny would happen, we were just cackling and laughing at everything.”
