After weeks of campaigning with buttons, pins, posters and stickers, the winners for the 2024 Homecoming Court have finally been announced.

Derrick Nobles was crowned Homecoming King while Madi Webb was crowned Homecoming Queen during halftime at the homecoming football game against Coastal Carolina.

“Winning this title is an incredible honor, and I feel so grateful to be chosen by my peers,” said Nobles, a senior business accounting major from Mobile, Alabama. “This is more than just a title; it’s a reminder of all the friendships, support and good times I’ve had here.

“This college community has been like a second family to me, and I hope to use this opportunity to give back and represent them proudly because I’m just really thankful for everyone who’s been part of this journey with me.”

“It is such an honor to be selected for this title,” said Webb, a senior biomedical science major from Enterprise, Alabama. “Every single person on court is absolutely amazing, so to stand beside them is truly so special.

“The university’s support is incredible.”

For the campaigning prior to the homecoming football game, Nobles and Wells used a variety of tactics to engage with the student body.

Nobles kicked things off with a promotional video, where his friends highlighted different activities he is involved in and accomplishments he has made. He created several flyers, inspired by the NBA 2K16 video game, that displayed his journey at Troy.

Nobles announced a Backpack School Supply Drive for his second graphic, where he will be donating all the supplies collected to a local community center for kids.

For Webb’s campaign, she wanted to meet people and share her love for Troy.

“I love the community of Troy and always have, so I’m blessed to represent Troy,” Webb said. “I just want to continue to be involved on campus and do everything I can for the students and the community.”

“Knowing that so many of my fellow students see me in a positive light and took the time to support me is really humbling,” Nobles said. “I’ve tried to be involved and make a positive impact here, so to feel that my peers recognize and appreciate that means a lot.

“I’m grateful for the friendships and memories I’ve made along the way, and this experience is just a reminder of how strong and supportive our community really is.”

The student votes chose the top five for the court while the queen and king were selected based on an interview and resume.

“I just want to say thank you to everyone who supported me and believed in me—it truly means the world,” Nobles said. “I’m excited to keep giving back and making the most of this opportunity.

“Let’s make this year one to remember.”
