“How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days” is a 2003 romantic comedy directed by Donald Petrie, starring Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey.
Andie, an author for a woman’s magazine, is assigned a story on how women can lose a guy in 10 days. Andie soon begins her search for the perfect man for this study.
Meanwhile Ben, an advertising executive, accepted a bet that he could get any woman to fall in love with him in ten days. As they both are searching they stumble upon each other without knowing the other's ulterior motive.
I found the beginning of the movie enthralling as both of their lives aligned, though I was curious if one of them would end up heartbroken. I noticed when they met they were both confident, and their polarity and chemistry seemed very strong.
As the movie continued, I was fascinated by the dynamics between Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey. They genuinely looked like they were enjoying the roles they were given.
Though love is in the air as they both go back and forth, pulling emotions in different directions, it becomes undeniable that they are both crazy for each other.
Andie uses psychotic breaks, emotional highs and lows, as well as her spunky personality to try to get Ben to leave before her ten days are up. None of that works, of course, because Ben is doing the opposite.
Though Ben wants to win his side of the bet, Andie almost runs him away until he remembers he had a business deal on the line. After many adventures together they realize they love each other, however, neither of them could admit it.
