KD 5K

Feb. 28, 2013

Kappa Delta is hosting their annual Shamrock event on Saturday, including three races and a silent auction benefiting Prevent Child Abuse America and Child Advocacy Center.

These races will include a 5K run, one-mile fun run and the Color Me KD run all at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 2.

The proceeds from the Shamrock event will be distributed between the Child Advocacy Center and PCA America, the official charity of the Kappa Delta Sorority.

Also included in the Shamrock event will be a silent auction of Southern Tide merchandise, including: Polo’s, t-shirts and hats.  The Southern Tide will also be selling croakies and coozies.

Momma Goldberg’s will be contributing to the KD charities by donating 10% of their day’s profits to Kappa Delta, towards PCA America.  In order for contributions to be counted at Momma Goldberg’s Deli, please bring the paper received during registration.

“I personally hope this event will promote the importance of the foundation Prevent Child Abuse America has laid.  I really want the community to see that college students are giving back to their own community by helping fight child abuse throughout the Troy region.  A little boy or girl is able to sleep more peacefully at night because of every sister’s hard work and dedication.” President of Kappa Delta, Julie Murphy, a senior education major from Beauregard, said.

“Most importantly, I want this year’s Shamrock to be able to help fight child abuse the best it can by raising the most we can with this year’s 5K, one mile and Color Me KD run.  Knowing that we’ve made one difference in one child’s life is enough achievement for the sisters of Kappa Delta.”

Those interested in participating may come by the sorority’s house at 8 a.m. for registration, $10 for students and faculty of Troy University and $15 for the public.
