Jimmy Fallon holds puppy Buck on the "Tonight Show."
Southland Goldens, professional breeders of English Golden Retrievers, were given the second opportunity for a few of its fluffy puppies to be featured on the “Puppy Predicts” segment of the “Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.”
Local dog breeders Drew and Alyson Stuart specialize in breeding English Cream Golden Retrievers. The Stuarts have been breeding since 2012 and take pride in raising puppies with a good temperament, pedigree and health.
“We were very excited to come back on the show,” Alyson Stuart said. “This is a great experience and publicity for us.”
In 2024, Southland Goldens had the opportunity to go to the show for the first time, where its puppies predicted the Kentucky Derby winner.
The Sierra Leone pup crossed the finish line first, being extremely close to correct, with the actual Sierra Leone coming in second. This year, these pups were called again to predict the Super Bowl champion.
“I felt honored and excited to be asked back,” Drew Stuart said. “It showed that they were pleased with us and our puppies enough to be asked back.”
Now, for the part everyone is curious about: Who did the puppies predict this time around?
The fluffy white fur-balls predicted the Chiefs would win the Super Bowl.

After the prediction was made, Austin Boswell, a trainer and worker for Southland Goldens, had no doubt about the puppies’ prediction.
“I do believe the puppies were correct in their prediction,” Boswell said. “I believe this especially since they chose the Chiefs in the two practice rounds and then the third time during the official live run.”
Despite the puppies’ predictions, however, the Super Bowl ended Sunday night with the Chiefs falling short to the Eagles, finishing with 22 points and the Eagles with 40. The puppy predictors were incorrect.
When asked about the puppies guessing wrong, the Stuarts said that the puppies are, at least, still cute.
Even though the puppies guessed incorrectly, the Troy based puppies had their five minutes of fame, with one even getting held by Jimmy Fallon himself.
Being from a small town in Alabama, the opportunity to be on the Jimmy Fallon show seems as if it would be unlikely. However, this business for puppies hit the mark with two invites so far.
