After firing off rounds of 73, 65 and 66, Troy men’s golfer Jake Springer earned the individual victory in Little Rock Tuesday.

Springer’s card of 73, 65 and 66 in each respective round gave him a total of 204. That’s tied for the lowest individual round since 2005 with sophomore Lee Poppell’s 204 last season.

“I’m absolutely thrilled for Jake getting his first collegiate win this week at Chenal,” Troy head coach Clay Bounds said. “He has put his heart and soul into Troy Golf the past three and a half years, and seeing him bring home a victory is amazing

Springer is the first individual champion to wear cardinal since former Trojan Brent Hamm in 2021. Until now, Hamm was the only Trojan to accomplish the feat since 2012.

As a team, Troy took home a podium finish in third. A total score of 859 put the team behind South Carolina and the match’s winner Little Rock, who had a combined score of 852 over three rounds.

The Trojans were able to get a small preview of what’s to come in the postseason. Troy toppled both Sun Belt foes Louisiana and ULM. Those two finished eighth and 10th, with scores of 867 and 881, respectively.

Troy now prepares for its final tournament of the fall. The team will head to Loxley, Alabama. for the Steelwood Collegiate Invitational held at South Alabama in two weeks.
