As the seasons began to change, Troy University’s Activities Council (UAC) held a Pumpkin Painting event last Wednesday night on the Quad. Students had the opportunity to come out and grab a pumpkin to paint to start off the spooky season.
“I hope students who came out tonight got the time to break free from any stress that they may be going through during this semester,” said UAC Secretary Jamie Parker, a sophomore nursing major from Millbrook, Alabama. “Students can let out some creativity on the pumpkins, and it’s something for everyone to take home.”
Parker also said that as Halloween is around the corner, he is very excited and already has a couple of costumes in mind.
The event served as a way to connect with friends, have fun and make new memories. There was live music, a variety of different Coke flavors and a multitude of pumpkins painted like T-Roy, skeletons and so much more.
Participants contributed by painting some pumpkins and preparing for Halloween festivities.
“It was really fun -- I actually painted a Harry Potter pumpkin,” said SarahKaye Scarbrough, a freshman criminal justice major from Luverne, Alabama. "My friend and I decided to come out here to have fun and enjoy the music.
“I am very excited for Halloween and spooky season. I do still love going Trick-or-Treating, but this year me and my friends are going to stay in and watch Halloween movies and eat food.”
“It was very fun to experience, especially since it’s fall season now,” said Monica Molina, a freshman psychology major from Seale, Alabama. “This was also the chance to socialize and hang out with friends.
“I am super excited for Halloween; I have never been able to celebrate Halloween fully before, so I’m going all out this year!”
Before the event wrapped up, students danced the night away to some popular tunes.
A full list of upcoming homecoming activities was sent to all students to their Troy email.
