The Troy University Police Department has transitioned to using an all-online system.

Parking decals for the 2017-2018 school year can now be purchased online through the portal at trojan.troy.edu/parking.

For those who have a Troy car tag, the parking decal is $25, and for those who do not, it is $100 for the academic year. This is a $25 increase from previous years.

“Funding generated by the change in price for the decals will pay for the construction of the new 548-space parking lot at the Troy campus,” said Matt Clower, director of university relations.

Faculty and staff decals will cost $100. For faculty named parking spaces, the cost is $150.

According to Troy University Police Chief John McCall, the system is easy to navigate.

“We are trying to accommodate everyone with this software,” McCall said.

Trojan Web Express credentials can be used to log in to the portal site. To purchase a parking decal, select “apply for a permit.” Users will then be prompted to choose decal type (resident or commuter), select if one has a Troy car tag and enter vehicle information.

The decals will be paid for on the system using a debit or credit card and can be picked up at the University Police Department, located at the bottom of Hamil Hall, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

As of Monday afternoon, McCall said that around 5,000 decals had been issued.

According to McCall, the university police will begin ticketing vehicles without proper decals on Monday, Aug. 21. They have already begun ticketing for illegally parked vehicles.

The design of the new decals has minimal changes, such as a wider sticker to allow easier application without tearing.

According to Troy’s website, permits must be displayed in the lower lefthand corner of the rear window.
