After being at Troy since fall of 2010, I am finally saying good-bye come May 9 this semester.
It’s been a long and intense journey, and one that I will always be grateful for.
Although I’ve only been an editor for the Trop for a semester, I’ve been writing for a couple years now and can say that it’s been a fantastic experience.
I’d like to say thanks to all my fellow editors for being awesome and great to work with.
I really appreciate all the work you guys do — you definitely don’t get as much credit as you deserve.
Professor Stewart, thank you for all you’ve taught me over the past few years.
I feel that my journalism skills have improved tremendously due to your teaching skills, and I hope that one day my experience will land me a great job where I can showcase everything you’ve taught me.
One of the most important organizations I’ve been a proud member of since 2010 is the Sound of the South, and let me just say this — I’m going to miss those experiences terribly.
Being a member of the Sound of the South has been the single most time consuming and amazing part of my time at Troy.
I can’t think of a better group of people to call my family away from home.
I’ve spent a lot — and I mean a lot — of time with these people, sweating it out at band camp and practice every day, not to mention everything else we do.
It was pretty time consuming and exhausting, but it was so worth it. I’d do it all over again if I had the chance.
I’ve made so many amazing friends in the Sound, and I hope that I’ve been as positive of an influence on their lives as they have been for me.
I’m sad about leaving, but I can’t wait to cheer you guys on as an alumna next year.
Being a part of the music department on campus has taught me a lot and has really given me a great chance to further my abilities as a musician.
I’d like to thank all my music professors for the wonderful work they do.
We have a phenomenal group of musicians on this campus, and I’m proud to say that I’ve worked with them.
I’d especially like to thank Dr. Huff for being an incredible trumpet professor.
I’ve learned a lot from your lessons, not only about trumpet playing but also about life in general.
I appreciate every lesson I’ve had with you, and I’ll always be thankful for your optimism, knowledge and advice.
I couldn’t begin to thank every person who’s helped me on this campus, professor or friend, so just know that I appreciate you wholeheartedly if you’ve had any role in my life.
I couldn’t have made it without my great friends by my side, and I know that my true friends will remain in my life for years and years to come after graduation.
To current underclassmen, I wish you good luck, and I hope you take full advantage of your time here at Troy and experience all that you can.
