Police Arrest Minor in Armed Robbery Case

Troy University police took a 14-year-old boy into custody on Friday as a suspect in the armed robbery that occurred behind Alumni Hall last week.

Because the boy is a minor, no information has been released about his identity.

“Being able to make an arrest in this case so quickly has required a lot of team work and coordination between Troy Police and University Police, and I greatly appreciate the efforts of Chief Jimmy Ennis and his department,” university police chief John McCall said in a press release.

“It’s yet another example of the close working relationship we have in Troy and Pike County to fight crime at all levels.”

The boy has been charged with robbery first degree and transferred from the juvenile detention center in the Troy city jail to an offsite facility.

The investigation is still underway and university police are still searching for two additional suspects said to be with the boy.

McCall said they are looking for three black males who were seen running in front of Alumni Hall on Monday night, one of which was noticeably taller than the others and two of which appeared to be from 18-years-old to their early twenties.

Police are asking anyone with information to call 334-670-3215.
